the priesthood was a punishment. aaron and his descendants were denied an inheritance in israel. they would remain slaves and spend their days in service to God, mired in blood and death, as a reminder of their sin, betrayal, and lack of faith.

Isn't it interesting that God went from purposing to destroy Israel including Aaron (who facilitated the peoples idolatry) due to the golden calf, but Moses intercedes for the people and Aaron although an utter failure regarding idolatry becomes the first High Priest entrusted with guarding against idolatry and becomes the keeper of orthodoxy and the proper worship of God? Grace upon grace upon grace!

1. For the first time their is a level of conviction for me on how i worship. this is an interesting thing for me brother because this may be the first time where I really have grasp the importance that God place on how you worship.

2& 3. this may sound crazy but I believe we have gotten to close to the action that we have forgotten how it feels to be separated from God. it goes to show the power that grace has been upon our lives. We are so comfortable with God's grace that we for that he is also a god of wrath. thus we let down our guard and roll into sin casually.

Brian,

1. The object of our worship and it seems the way we worship is very important to God

2. "People's life is at stake". It sure is my friend and this is much more immenent today than 200 years ago but even then there seems to be a state of emergency and urgency that seems to slip our grips today.

3. Finally one thing I observed was this. God's judgment is often times frowned upon, but as Moses instructs Aaron "do not let your countenance drop"! Whatever God does is right, thus we only need to our line with His purposes much like Aaron did
